About Rockvale Rebound
Are you blind or visually impaired? Or are you visiting on behalf of a family member, friend, or neighbor who has problems reading normal print because of a visual impairment? Then you've come to the right place! We are here to help.
Rockvale Rebound is a completely free local talking newspaper service for people who are blind or have a visual impairment which prevents them from reading normal print. It has been produced by volunteers since May 1981.
We are a registered Scottish charity (SC016017) supported by grants and donations. We also arrange a variety of fundraising events such as sponsored walks and can collections to help with our running costs.
Our Services
We currently produce three publications which are recorded onto audio formats:
Weekly Newspaper
A team of volunteers read items from two local newspapers - the Dumbarton & Vale of Leven Reporter and the Lennox Herald.
"On The Rebound" - Monthly Magazine
A mixture of news items, information from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), stories, health topics, travel, upcoming events, and more.
"Rebound Roundabout" - Monthly Magazine
Produced by some of our blind members and consists of interesting interviews on topical and historical subjects in and around the local area, including Dumbarton, Vale of Leven, Cardross, Milton, and Bowling.
Our dispatch team posts the recordings out to listeners in special padded wallets. A label is provided for free return. In addition, if listeners wish, we can deliver recordings personally, thereby maintaining a vital social contact for many of our listeners.
